One Love Foundation Launches ‘Unhealthy Connections’ PSA Campaign
30-second ads to offer resources to help young adults stay safe in digital relationships
New York, NY, September 7, 2022 – Today, One Love Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending relationship abuse and empowering young people to see the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, launched their Unhealthy Connections public service announcement (PSA) campaign. Created in partnership with minds + assembly, the campaign includes three PSAs displaying different scenarios of unhealthy digital communication.
“Relationships today are conducted extensively online. When young adults build connections in these private spaces – away from the view of their friends and family – they’re increasingly exposed to unhealthy and potentially dangerous behaviors.” said Katie Hood, CEO of the One Love Foundation. “Through these PSA’s we hope to shine light and expose unhealthy behaviors that thrive in secrecy so young people and their caregivers learn how healthy relationships grow in the light.”
The 30 second PSA’s show three realistic scenarios displaying the dangers of online abuse while offering One Love as a trusted resource for educating young people on how to recognize and navigate healthy versus unhealthy relationships. All ads can be viewed online and will be aired on TV networks across the country in September and October.
Mario, shows a boy whose girlfriend is intensely texting him, demanding his attention and his location – displaying unhealthy behaviors of intensity and deflecting responsibility. Stephanie, focuses on a a queer couple with a girlfriend jealous of her partner liking a photo on social media – displaying unhealthy beaviors of possessiveness and volatility. Ruth, depicts a guy trying to convince a young girl he recently started seeing to send explicit photos of herself – displaying unhealthy behaviors of manipulation and guilting.
“We’re proud to partner with One Love to create powerful PSA’s that spark discourse among Gen Z about healthy relationships, unhealthy relationships, and the ability to discern between the two.” said Stephen Minasvand, Co-founder of minds + assembly.

About One Love Foundation
One Love Foundation is dedicated to improving the relationship health of future generations. The non-profit organization has educated more than 2 million young people through educational workshops, both in-person and online, by teaching them the signs of unhealthy and healthy relationship behaviors. One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old college student whose life was tragically cut short when she was killed by her ex-boyfriend. Her family learned during the trial that her death could have been prevented had they recognized the signs of an abusive relationship. For more information, visit joinonelove.org.
